Kanso Architects: A Monthly Briefing on Architecture & Design
The name "Kanso" is taken from the 7 principles of Japanese aesthetics which is Kanso / Accessibility (簡素). By definition (or at least in a the main sense) Kanso is when things are expressed in a simple, natural manner. Kanso helps us to think not in terms of decoration but in terms of clarity, the kind of clarity that may be achieved by removing non-essential stuff.

Beauty is Never Enough
Beauty is Never Enough (midterm team project)
Yun A Reum, Gabriella Rachel, Indra Tania, Putu Sridiniari
Idea: Aesthetics standard has changed over-time; one of the most powerful source is the media. We are interested in manipulation of beauty especially trough altered photos and how people's perception is influenced by the images they see to determine what is perfectly beautiful.
Purpose: to open viewer's mindset or perception on the manipulation of beauty that the media creates. To wake them up to reality.
Concept: We create an image of the mainstream print media (cover of fashion magazine), then openly use a collage form of manipulation to depict the use of photo-manipulating software.
Here are the alternatives based on personal ideas. We finally used (indra1) to explore.

Manipulating the image of stars to make them look so beautiful:
(from July 1992 McCall's) "With state-of-the-art gadgetry a photographic image is scanned into a computer, creating an exact duplicate that can be retouched electronically in any number of ways. Its makeover power makes airbrushing--the age old technique used to refine stars' complexions in portraits--seem puny. Among other things, Scitexing can eliminate crow's-feet, wrinkles or blemishes;
pump up or pare down cleavage; turn a sneer into a smile; whiten teeth; tame stray hairs; lengthen arms or legs; and put heads on different bodies"
"Dismemberment or body-chopping in ads occurs more frequently for women than men. Women's bodies without heads, faces or feet lead us to believe that all that truly matters about woman lies between her neck and her knees (Cortese, 1999)."

character design: Ni Kahyangdari
the inspiration and concept of the character is based on Miguel Covarrubias's illustration of Balinese woman, which appeared on Vanity Fair magazine (c. 1924).
Ni Kahyangdari:
Ni, in Balinese society refers to female.
Kahyangdari was taken from two Indonesian words: Kahyangan (heaven;kingdom of the Gods) and Bidadari (daughter from the heavens;graceful woman)

Textile designer business card #1
To create a series of self-promotion media and emphasize the skill and expertise of the textile designer. Shape and lines are played a lot, therefore the layout reflects the dynamism of the designer's design itself.
